Tallinna Raadiomaja building systems clash detection and visualization

Radio House has a strict acoustic requirements due the purpose it is used for. Therefore, moving of the suspended ceilings and internal walls had to be planned carefully and coordinated with the designer. For preventing problems on construction site due to the possible clashes between different building systems and structures different discipline models were combined to perform clash detection. In addition model helped the construction team to better plan and coordinate the work in narrow conditions.

Tallinn Kiriku 2/4 inventory modelling

Kiriku 2/4 is a historical building which has been extended and rebuilt during different time periods. Existing drawings did were inadequate and did not reflect the actual situation. For inventory modelling point cloud was compiled. Model is going to be used as a reference for designing retrofit measures.

Modelling of the Kino Kosmose’ ventilation chamber

During the renovation of the Kino Kosmos new ventilation chamber with new systems is going to be built under the attic. This must be fit between new structural members. Existing conditions were laser scanned and inventory model was prepared for coordination the construction process. Ventilation model was compared against structural model to map the space requirements for constructing new systems.

NBRI Safety Research

NBRI is conducting a research to understand how designers (architects and engineers) perceive the impact of their design decisions from the perspective of safety aspects and issues. Two 28 storey buildings were modeled with 47 safety hazards embedded. This model was used to prepare an experiment in the immersive virtual reality environment, also known BIM CAVE.

Ranniku street 10 single-family dwelling

This single-family dwelling was a challenge to contractor due to its complex geometry, structure and white concrete finishing. Therefore, to better understand the structures and improve planning of the construction works, a structural BIM model was done. Model was used for various purposes but mainly for quantity extraction, design of formwork and visualization of casting units on construction site.

Jätkensaare Waste Recycling Plant

The load-bearing structures of the facility are made of cast-in-place concrete. Due to the vast amount of technology inside the facility, the geometry of the building is complex and challenging to be built. Structural and technological models were prepared for the purpose of technical visualizations and to perform constructability analysis to check the 2D drawings and their cohesiveness.

Sörnainen Metro model for visualization

An existing solution of the metro station will be changed during the reconstruction. For visualizing client the new solution, architectural model was prepared that was used for creating photo-realistic renderings. A rendering of the model was embedded into the picture of existing conditions.

Sepapaja 5 model for demolition

Building to be demolished, is situated by the Suur-Sõjamäe motorway with heavy traffic. That is what makes this demolition project complicated as there are many variables that must be considered. Of the existing building only few drawings had preserved. Therefore, to speed up the modelling process, first, building façade was scanned and only then modelled. Model was used for extracting quantities, planning and organizing demolition works.

The North Estonia Medical Centre model of the existing façade

The aim of this project was to map the existing conditions of the building façade. For that a laser scanning technology was used to prepare the point cloud. This point cloud was used as a reference for modelling the façade with ideal solution. Now these two could be compared to get information for preparing and organizing construction works on a site.
